Diploma in Mechatronics

Three year diploma program designed exclusively to meet the requirements of the industries dealing with the maintenance of CNC system, Automaton, AC/DC drives, Instrumentation, Power electronics & Control systems. They are also given training in Robotics / PLC / Embedded System. Industrial project forms part of the course, during last quarter.

Objective

This course provides thorough practical and theoretical inputs to the trainee to make him a multi-skilled professional. The trainee will be able to apply these skills to the needs of any automated industry.

Theory

English and Communication skills,Applied Science,Mathematics,Industrial Management,Material Science,Engineering Graphics,Mechanical Engineering science,Strength of Materials,Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Robotics, CAD/ CAM, Electrical Engineering Science,Sensors and Actuators,Analog and Digital Electronics,Control Systems,Industrial Electronics,Microprocessors and Microcontrollers,PLC,Mechantronics System Design,CNC Technology,Industrial Equipment Maintenance.

Practical

Bench work, Machining, Sheet metal work,Arc Welding and Gas Cutting, Soldering, Equipment wiring,PCB design and fabrication,Winding of coils and transformers, Testing and measuring of electronic instruments, troubleshooting, Microprocessor programming and Interfacing,Industrial electronics,CNC operation, Programming and Maintenance,Computer hardware and software, mechantronics design and fabrication of prototype automatic equipments,Computer programming with C,C++ and Visual Basic.

Project Work

Microprocessor and microcontroller based applications,Industrial electronics and mechatronics systems, Hydeaulics and Pneumatics control systems, Special purpose machines, Industrial automation, vision control systems , Robotics,CNC Machine applications.

Diploma in Tool & Die Making:

Three year diploma program followed by 1 year of industrial training. The trainees during the course learn to design and manufacture intricate Press tools, Plastic moulds, Die casting dies, Jigs & Fixtures and Gauges independently. Industrial project work, in association with M/s. Technocraft Industries forms part of this course, during the final year.

Program Type

This is a Diploma program.

Duration

The program duration is 4 years, consisting of 3 years of Institutional Training and 1 year of Industrial Training; and each academic year begins in July and ends in June.

Who should join the course

This program should be taken up by students having an interest in matters mechanical, and who would like to make a career in Tool and Die Making.

Theory

English, Applied Science, Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Basic Electronics, Computer Programming, Production Technology, Material Technology, Electrical Technology, Strength of Material, Tool Design Theory (Press Tools, Dies, Moulds, Jigs & Fixtures), Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Quality Control & Metrology, Industrial and Production Management, Estimation & Costing, Heat Treatment & Surface Treatment and CNC Technology.

Practical

Bench Work including Advanced Fitting, Machine Work including Conventional and Special Tool Room Machines like Jig Boring, Jig Grinding, EDM, etc. Training in Inspection, Heat Treatment, Maintenance and Design Office. Exposure to Sheet Metal Presses; Plastic Moulding Machines and Pressure Die Casting Machines.Practice in Auto CAD & Pro-E, CNC Machine Operation, and Low Cost Automation.

Project Work

Students undertake various projects during the course of this program. Some of these are Production of Jigs, Fixtures, Gauges, Press Tool and Mould-based projects.

The course provides thorough practical and theoretical knowledge to the trainee, to make him a technician in the area of Tool Design and Manufacturing. The trainee will be able to apply the skills acquired at the program with immediate effect, while meeting the needs of the tooling industry.

Eligibility

  • Qualification
    Pass in 10th std. / SSLC / 12th / PUC / ITI / Vocational course with minimum 35% marks in Science and Mathematics individually.

  • Capacity
    Intake capacity is 60 trainees every year for both the courses.

Educational Loan

Loan scholarship is available for students hailing from the economically weaker sections of society. The nationalised banks also provide support, through the disbursement of educational loans.

Further Learning

Trainees are eligible for lateral entry to Graduate Engineering programs of various universities and deemed universities, after successful completion of this program. They are also eligible to join Post Diploma programs in NTTF and other reputed institutions, on successful completion of the course.

Project

Students have to take up projects during their course tenure. Some of the live projects are in the areas of Press Tools, Moulds, Jigs & fixtures and Gauges.

Internship
